More Adventures in St Augustine

I wanted to add some more information about my adventures in St Augustine for those of you who might want to visit the historic city. Here are some unusual things that we did while there that you probably won't read about in the tour books.

St George Street became a favorite of mine, not for the shopping (which there is a lot to do) but for the food! I had a great pizza at PizzaAlleys where they giving samples out in the street. It enticed me to go in and order a few slices! I am never one to turn down a good pizza! At the other end of St George Street, came an incredible smell - the smell of chocolate at Kilwins Chocolates. I can never pass a Kilwins without getting a waffle cone ice cream! Love it!

We had some other great meals including the Gypsy Cab Company - lots of good food - and the A1A Ale House and Brewery on King Street. I especially liked being able to sit on the outside balcony and people watch. The street noise was not too noticeable and we were able to occasionally see the odd boat go by.

I don't think that I mentioned the name of the fort in my earlier post. The name of the fort is Castillo de San Marcos. I enjoyed walking around the fort and learning some of its history.

I would highly recommend visiting St Augustine. It is a beautiful city and you can definitely have a fun time there!

Gourmet McDonalds

I couldn't believe it - McDonald's in Orlando at certain locations has a higher end menu with pastas, paninis, and gourmet hamburgers. Who would believe it?

I just had to try this new menu even if it wasn't exactly healthy. I ordered a bacon mushroom cheeseburger and was happily surprised at how good it was even down to the yummy bun. On the fries however, they were stone cold but the store manager replaced them for nice hot ones.

The food is served on an actual plate but the funny thing is that the cooks just walk over to the normal french fryer and get a typical container for the fries. They then walk back to their section and dump the fries onto the plate.

If you are going to eat at McDonalds, this is the way to go if you like cheeseburgers!
